As the Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development engine in Greater Louisville, one of GLI’s core objectives is to attract an educated and skilled workforce. 55,000 Degrees – In October 2010, a public-private partnership called 55,000 Degrees took on the mission to raise educational attainment and create transformational change with the support of local foundations to launch Louisville into the top tier of our competitor cities with the bold goal of adding 40,000 bachelor’s degrees and 15,000 associate degrees by 2020.

Degrees at Work – Degrees at Work is part of a larger community commitment to increase by 55,000 the number of adults with post-secondary degrees by the year 2020. That would mean at least 40% of working-age adults would hold a Bachelor’s Degree and 10% an Associate’s Degree. Degrees At Work has the goal of helping 15,000 working adults in Greater Louisville complete Bachelor’s Degrees by 2020.

Work In Lou– This is a website designed to allow current and future residents of Greater Louisville an easy way to quickly search for job openings in the region.  Work In Lou pulls from major job posting websites, and combines them in one location for convenience.

Greater Louisville International Professionals – Making diversity a priority, Louisville offers the Greater Louisville International Professionals (GLIP), a resource for newcomers, professionals and students in the area. Professionals, employers and members of the business community with a global perspective connect and engage via online resources, social media, special events.

Intern To Earn – Closing the gap between companies in need of fresh talent and students looking to gain career experience, Intern To Earn is the regional internship program for Greater Louisville. InternToEarn.com works to infuse the region with innovative, imaginative, idea-driven interns prepared for the 21st Century jobs while creating an intern-friendly culture. Working on behalf of employers, students and the community, Intern To Earn develops the talent needed to be competitive locally, nationally and globally.

Approximately 130,000 soldiers transition from active duty service annually through the Army Transition Assistance Program (SFL-TAP) which is headquartered at the U.S. Army Human Resources Command located at Fort Knox, KY. With more than 3,000 of those transitioning Soldiers being from Fort Knox, Greater Louisville has a unique economic development opportunity to tap into this highly skilled Veteran talent like nowhere else in the nation.
